Inspiration for a Salesperson
Are you a salesperson looking for some inspiration to make the dreaded prospect calls?
Here is a true story for you…
Many years back a 23-year-old joined a Canadian bank as a rookie salesperson. He began each morning with two jars on his desk. One was filled with 120 paper clips. The other was empty. As soon as he settled in, he would make a sales call. Immediately after, he would move 1 clip from the full jar to the empty jar.
Throughout the day he would repeat the process. He continued this over days & months. Within 18 months he was generating 5M$ revenues for his bank. By age 24 he was making the equivalent of US$ 125,000 – and sometime later – he joined another bank with a 6 figure salary.
Taken from book Atomic Habits by James Clear. In the book, he goes on to make a case for making changes by thinking through systems & processes – that make it easy to change – rather than using willpower – which is a very finite & diminishing resource – to change & make things happen!
