Ideas from da Vinci, Einstein, & Steve Jobs worth teaching our children?

1. Curiosity- the most important thing

If you see da Vinci’s sketches, you will see an exuberant & playful mind dancing across nature. He asks & answers 100s of charmingly random questions.

Leonardo did not need to know these things to paint the Mona Lisa – it helped!

2. Create a reality distortion field

When his colleagues protested that Steve Jobs’ ideas were impossible to implement, he would use a trick learned from an Indian guru. He would stare at them & say, “Don’t be afraid. You can do it.”

Excellence comes from stretching! Encouraging folks to go beyond is OK.

3. Love to connect arts & science

If you go back to Steve Jobs’ iPhone/iPad launches, many of his presentations end with a street sign that showed an intersection of Liberal Arts & Tech. Street.

Steve Jobs said – “It’s in Apple’s DNA that tech alone is not enough. We believe that its tech married with the humanities that yield results that make our hearts sing.”

When Einstein felt stymied in his quest for relativity, he would play Mozart. Music helped him connect him to the harmony of spheres.

So don’t be obsessed with science. Arts and music skills have payoffs beyond imagination.
